I tried this question on the Case board but no responses so I'll try it here. I am reassembling a 3-spring Auburn clutch on a Case model V. It would be pretty much the same clutch as is on the VA and probably similar to clutches on other makes as well. I have replaced the 3 throwout arms and springs on the pressure plate assembly. Now I need to adjust the height of each of the three arms using the adjusting bolts and lock nuts. I know that all three arms have to be adjusted to the same location or height (within 0.005" of each other) so that the throwout bearing contacts them at the same time, but I don't know at what location or height to adjust the arms to. There is quite a range to which they can be set. None of the manuals I have here give a specification nor do they state where to take the measurement from. Any help or advice would be appreciated if you might be able to help.
