Live hydraulics are also important for a general purpose tractor, that the 8N lacks. Older InternationalHarvestor tractors that still have both live PTO and hydraulics include the 300, 350, 404, 504. You might prefer the International (utility) to the Farmall branded ones (row-crop). The utility models are more compact but otherwise have the same features and horsepower as the Farmall of the same model#. IH tractors of this era might not come with a 3-point hitch, but adaptors are available. Someone else mentioned the MF 135, also a good choice.
