Back in 2000 I bought my first old tractor: a Farmall cub with front blade, It looked bad but ran, and I knew nothing about old tractors. I paid $2000 for it. It needed to be restored but it ran and Deep down I knew it would probably be a headache but I needed a snow pushing machine so I bought it and It turned out to be a pain in the a##. The guy I bought it from is a older guy that buys old tractors and gets them running. He saw me coming and reeled me in. I regret buying it and Have often thought about turning him into the IRS, even if the IRS didnt find anything they could make his life a living nightmare for a while. Two years ago I sold the cub to a guy 2 hours away for $1000. I was upfront and honest to the guy and said it was difficult to start and may need an engine rebuild, I wasnt sure but it had 60 psi engine compression on all 4 cylinders. It may pay to go back to that old guy you mentioned and ask for 1/2 of your money back. Couldnt hurt.

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
