I hire allot of hauling done.I had one guy doing it all he was paid in full when he loaded.Worked good for a while, than he hauled a tractor I sold almost 600 miles. He never called customer about delivery ( the guy sent us 5 phone numbers) He didn't get the right farm & unloaded it( no one around). The buyer called me & ask if I shipped his tractor I said yes. He said neighbor down the road had one JUST like it in his barnyard when I came home tonight. Well the guy that got the tractor wouldn't give it to the rightfull owner Ended up with allot of phone calls to sherrif's dept. in that county. I had a copy of the online sale including the tractor's sn. with the buyers name showing. But I didn't have anything showing who delivered it & how it got there. Lucky the sherrif's office knew the guy that bought it & believed out story. They told the guy holding the tractor they were going to inpound it. He told them he would give it up if we paid storage on it. The man that bought it paid him 100 & drove it home right than. That only cost me the 100 & some phone calls Now I make the haulers sign a shipping order(found at any truck stop) when loading, telling where THEY are to deliver.I don't pay any money up front but there will be cash or bank check when they unload. The hauler is safe they have a tractor to hold till they get paid. the buyer is safe the hauler has to meet him to get paid
