My highlight in 1968 was being drafted into the U.S. Army, and then learning the same things our guys are learning in Iraq.
We pay, and have paid a heck of a price for our freedom.
I can remember being wet and cold and scared and just thinking about crops growing and sunshine and the way cattle smell on grass, and especially the way a horse and saddle smell on a hot afternoon when you're checking cattle.
Yeah, it is funny what we remember.
