lp opperation

Can someone please explain to me or give me a good place to find out how an lp (propane? butane?) tractor or any engine for that matter works. I am currently attending a vo-tech school so I totally understand how everything on a diesel and gasoline engine works but as for as the theory of opperation of the vaporiser and other parts I am clueless. I will be working either at the local case/kubota dealership or the local john deere dealership so I will need to understand this stuff. Thanks for the help!!!!
