1086 TA

I'm going to look at a 1086 in a few days. The owner is a widow and doesn't know much about the tractor. She says the TA is out and had been out for several years. I assume this means the low side is gone and its being run in the high side.I won't need the TA for what i'll be using it for, can it be ran ok in the high side or could this lead to other problems? What might it cost ot repair the TA?
