Just went out and looked at mine. If you are talking about changing the whole assembly it sure looks like the fuel bowl is in the way on one side and the water pipe on the other side. If your tractor is not in "SHOW" condition with a super paint job it will probably be easier to take the steering shaft and hood/gas tank off. Leave the gas tank connected to the hood makes it a lot easier to go back. Next time you post you might get more answers in the John Deere section. I was here by mistake
