A couple things come to mind with this situation. First, if you buy the parts from NewHolland, then each part is available separate. There is no kit, as such. Second, the 4.2 x 4.2 175 cid engine was not fitted to the 4000, that I am aware. The 4000 only came equipped with a 201 cid (4.4 x 4.4) The 175 was fitted to the 3610, and I am fairly sure the 3600 as well. So be sure that it is a 175. Another possibility is that the engine has been rebuilt previously, and required sleeves. Sometimes a straight sleeve was set in a 4.4 in bore, and made it a 4.2 in bore. So, to be very sure of what you have, check the model, unit code on the right front ear of the block, the bore, the stroke, the block, the rods, etc. Ford did sleve some blocks at factory, but I am not aware that a lesser displacement would be fitted in a given model. The block would simply be used on another model which used the lesser bore. Mabey somebody has buggered with this already? Hope this answers more questions that is raises... Rod

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
