Gary, not sure if ill be any help but here we go, I beleive you are refering to the oil bath air filter that inline to the carb. I would say it would be hard for oil to leave the engine throught the carb and load up the oil pan on the filter assy. I have seen on some oilcups wuth a baffle like or slosh plate the lay in the top. maybe your needs one. I know are Ford has one. But if it does with out you ever moving the tractor. the you can shoot down my theory good luck
