I belive there are dynos that are really generators where the current and voltage drop are measured and since power is the product of current X voltage drop, you can essentially measure power by measuring current and voltage drop. The load is applied via resistors which are water cooled. Technically you are correct, there is no horsepower meter per se. Just like there is no desity meter, it's a calculated quantity. Or a thermocouple whose output is measured in millivolts and related to temperature or a torque meter where deflection is related to torque, etc. etc. etc. Direct measurement of mainy quantities is not possible, but other measurements are made that are related to that which would like to be measured.Do you still say you can't measure them? I wouldn't and I spent a good deal of my engineering career doing just that. But it's a free country and you can diagree with me if you want to. Respectfully, Jerry/MT

The Ferguson System Principal An implement cutting through the soil at a certain depth say eight inches requires a certain force or draft to pull it. Obviously that draft will increase if the implement runs deeper than eight inches, and decrease if it runs shallower. Why not use that draft fact to control the depth of work automatically? The draft forces are
