Scott, take a torch and heat the pipe and a little bit of the block. It don't have to be cherry red. After you've done this for a while, take a candle and stick it to the pipe. Be careful, because the wax may flame up. Let this cool completely, then take the channel locks and unscrew it. The wax melts down around the threads and pushes out the rust. You may want to get a tap and chase the threads to make sure they're clean. I've done this to mufflers and pipes that I couldn't move with a pipe wrench before, but could remove with pliers after.
