I'd have to agree with the other posts, if you don't have the land owners permission, stay off their land. Just because there is alot of open space doesn't give you permission to ride on it. Our friend has over 200 acres and I can ride on it anytime I want, with his permission, but let him catch one of the boys from the housing development next door (that have big ATV's and a 1/4 acre lot) and there's gonna be trouble. Like the other posts say they are the typical ATV'ers that really don't care about what is in a field or if they open a gate and let his cows out, etc etc. I can ride anytime without saying a word to him, but even so I still stop by the house everytime I go to ride to be sure it's Ok and to make sure he doesn't have something going on in a particular field that I need to avoid. To me this is just common courtesy. If the other guys would practice the same thing, he has told me many times that he would have no problems with them riding either. You also have to watch out for unexpected things when your on somebody elses land. One of Martin Marietta's quarries that we work in had a group that liked to ride around their pit at night. They new about it but never could catch them. One day they shot out a road that had been there for years. That night two riders came in and ran off the edge of a cliff that was once the road. Fortunately they hadn't loaded out any of the shot and the boys only fell about 40' otherwise it would have been closer to 100'. Still both had to be airlifted with serious injuries. I was told that both eventually recovered, but that they were just lucky. Again use common courtesy and ASK, you'd be suprised how nice some people can be if you show them some respect.

Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
