Kurt, you said,"I could see getting busted for hunting on land that you dont have permission to hunt on but how serious is ATV riding, trespassing." If it ain't your property and you haven't acquired permission to be there... "YOU ARE TRESPASSING, PUNK!!!!" Posted or not, if it ain't yours... stay the heck off of it!!! I have fought to stop 4-wheelers (and snowmobilers) from running all over property that I am farming. Some punk idiot drove his 4W'er right through a 1/4 mile of standing corn about 3 weeks before harvest. Flattened the corn about 5' wide and 1/4 mile long, and there was no way to pick it up with the combine! {GRRRRRRRR!!!!!} If I could have caught the sucker, I'm afraid there would have been almost nothing left to prosecute! I have had people do donuts in freshly planted soybean fields, tear down no trespassing signs to use for campfire fuel at their beer parties (and leave all the trash for me to pick up), chop initials into trees, run over crops with all sorts of vehicles. I got cussed at from mushroom hunters that thought they should be able to hunt mushrooms in my backyard. I've had snowmobilers run all over my property... I AM SICK AND TIRED OF IT!!! I sat right in the Sheriff's office and asked him what I could do to stop the antics that these morons were doing to my fields. He said that I could legally hold them till the deputies arrived (if I could catch them), by any means necessary. I asked, "does that include slashing all the tires of the 4W'ers with my hunting knife so that they can't drive off?" He said "whatever it takes!" Here in rural southern Illinois many folks carry guns in their vehicles, and you are as likely to get shot at... as a way of informing you that you are trespassing! One incident I had many years ago... I spent 2 days trying to re-ditch a field near my house to get it to drain properly. The next day a nice half inch of rain fell and while my brother and I were admiring the ditch from my front porch... some punka$$ kid came up the road in his 4WD P/U, stopped (he did not see us on the porch) and shifted into 4-Low, and then proceeded to see how well his truck would do in my fresh, muddy field ditch... {GRRRRR!} I ran to my 3/4 ton P/U and chased them down (I found out that it will do 95mph) I finally passed them and forced them to stop (he had tried to outrun me when he saw me flyin' out of the driveway, with gravel flyin'). I walked up to the truck spittin'-n-cussin' and informed the "twit" just what I thought of him... and his parentage!!!! And I screamed at him that if I ever saw him driving down the road by my house again... I would chase him down and do some rather unspeakable things to him! You ignoramous, thoughtless, punka$$, arrogant, moronic, stupid, @#%!^&*#%@ get caught on my property and I WILL PROSECUTE YA'!!! It is a $1000 fine and a trip to the iron-bar hotel (and I would probably make sure that the vehicle stayed where it was at till the sheriff arrived, by whatever means necessary)! If you want to ride those things, then spend some of that money and pay $2000 per acre (plus annual property taxes) for the dang ground! Otherwise... stay off!!! It doesn't matter if the farmer is 3 miles away (as you so smugly put it)... And the owner is out of state... SO WHAT!!! You are still a criminal... and it still ISN"T YOUR PROPERTY!!!!!!! Don't go crying around this forum if the farmer ever does find out your name and prosecutes you.... you will win not an ounce of sympathy here! I hope you and all the other crooks get caught AND PROSECUTED to the full extent of the law! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Show Coverage: Journey to Ankeny - by Cindy Ladage. We left Illinois on the first day of July and headed north and west for Ankeny, Iowa. Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
