8 N transmission

I have an 8N with a two speed thansfer lever on the left side of the tractor. With the lever forward I have one set of gears, with the lever pulled to the back I have a set of higher speed gears. If in the middle of the transfer, I pull out on the lever and then pull back I have yet another set of higher speed gears making this a 3 speed transfer. None of my freinds have heard of this, have any of you?
