Truth and half truth!!!!!!! If you say something you need to tell the whole story. 1) While this small amount is true for death benifit this is what the govement pays for. You are offered up to 250K through pay roll deduction. 2) If you have a spouse and children they also get a monthly check. 3) If you have a service disabilty you get a monthly check from the VA. 4) If you get more than 30% disabilty you get full milatary benifits. health, comussary ect. 5) your check for disabilty can be reduced dollar for dollar but only for other goverment benifits such as retirment; not private sector wages. 6) Wages are to low but with BAQ ect it adds up. I did not post right away to check my facts with my son and daughter in law both in the MARINES. My son is getting out as soon as the paper work is done with 35% service related disabily and has just went to all discharge classes with up to date info and this is the way he explained it to me. As stated before I do not think anyone takes a job for the death benifits.
