The only problems I have heard with the Duramax is heads may crack, and only cause those yahoo's who don't understand how to treat an engine after pulling their horses or whatever. They just shut them down without letting them idle and cool properly. I understand that the engines have aluminum heads and an iron block, different cooling rates. Not the greatest idea but if shut down properly there aren't any problems.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
