I think one of your reasons sounds right. When I was around 12 my dad had a sawmill with a 60inch round blade now this was 25 yr ago but I remember he had a John Deere(can't remember the model) and we had to put a twist in the belt to make the blade run the right way and as for the belt slap I remember him resting a board on the belt at the twist and that would keep the belt from jumping or swaying too much, don't know how the board never went flying. terry
