A flail will allow you to mow high grass and leave behind an even layer of mulched clippings because unlike a rotary mower, it doesn't windrow material. I use an 8 foot Seppi for land clearing, a 7 foot Rears for orchard work, and my favorite is a 5 foot TriMax that front mounts on a reversible tractor. It leaves a pasture looking like a golf course.
