I think it all depends on what year the JD A is, some of the earlier As did not have any more horsepower than an H, and an H with the overbore kit will outperform even the later As, unless the A has been tweaked a bit also. In actual working conditions, I doubt if you would notice much differance, The A is probably rated as a 3 plow tractor, while the H would be rated as a 2 plow tractor, but the H would probably pull 2 plows at a faster pace than the A with 3 plows, so at the end of the day each tractor would have covered an equal amount of ground. As far as mowing, bush hogging, etc, the H is a lot more friendly with the foot operated clutch. It's a tough call.
