it is my understanding that some of the older model tractors built before the mid 1970's, did not have the best of lift capacitys. my 1973 ford 4000 3 pt. leaves something to be desired also. i can lift and carry a 4x4 round bale on the ft loader and a 4x4 round bale on the 3 pt. spike both at the same time on my JD 870 compact. sure can't do that with the old ford. i guess the older tractors were not supposed to carry heavy loads.
