I don't have a 79 service manual but I have an 80 and a 78. The 78 shows a 5 pin box and the 80 shows a six pin box but only 5 pins being used. The 80 dosen't use a green wire but the 78 does so I will use it. dark green wire-goes to the ballast resistor. black wire with yellow tracer-negative side of coil. gray wire and brown with white tracer wire-goes to distributor. Red wire-this ties in with a bunch of wires which is your power. It also ties in with the other side of your ballast resistor, voltage regulator, field side of your alternator, and egr timer or speed switch. Hope this makes sense!
