Hey Scott, this sounds pretty normal. When one gets tipped over a certain amount of oil can get past the piston rings. When it gets by the rings it can get also get a small amount into the intake and exhause mainfold depending on what valve happens to be open at the time. All of this oil together in the wrong places will cause just what you saw, massive amounts of smoke. It whould eventually burn itself out with no lasting effects. You didn't say how it got tipped, and I assume you didn't get hurt, and that's the good thing. Something everybody used to tell me, "Just remember, shiny side up, rubber side down....."
