Actually lug tires are better for your lawn vs turf tires. The lugs, while much more aggressive, will not slip and spin nearly as much as turf tires on damp grass and earth. You must pay attention to what you are doing though, when you do slip lug tires you will dig an ugly hole. I replaced the turf tires on my ZTR mower with lug tires and eliminated the ugly spin marks and torn up turf(hillsides). The lug tires do make marks in soft earth, but don't spin, and the depressions quickly fill up at the next rain.
