Hi Jim, Yeah, I remember Alconbury, we used to go up to RAF Newton (near Nottingham) regularly... always had some of my troops attending training there. We would stop off at Alconbury on the way. Amazing how quickly things change, huh? I always thought I'd want to retire in England. There were lots of retired GI's around Bentwaters, most had married British women, and they seemed to live pretty comfortably... but after thinking of the tax structure, the basically socialist political system, the gun control, expense of land, etc, etc, guess I'll have to be satisfied with visiting. My wife and I both retired from the AF not too many years ago, if we can ever get our place set up so we can be gone for 90 days, we want to go roam the UK and Europe. Should be fun! Well, nice visiting with you... I'm sure we'll be in contact in the future! Cheers, Mate! D.L.
