Nick, First off, if the Cub Cadet is from the 70's and is a vertical shaft engine I would not advise purchasing it. These "Lawn Tractors" were belt drive and had problems with almost everything from front ends breaking off to deck pulleys falling out! If its a garden tractor(100, 1000, or 86 series) it may be worth while. I own 14 Cub Cadets from Originals to a 1282. If you are going to mow grass, any of these would work. For plowing or blowing snow a hydro would work better than a stick. I think the price he is asking is a bit high for any of these units unless its hydro in MINT condition. Also the engine change is not desirable. The old cast iron Kohlers are more ridgid and last much longer then the new aluminum/cast sleeved engines. In PA a good running Cub Cadet with mower deck and maybe a front blade would go for $600-$1500. Hope this helps.
