You can't use a test lite and be sure it is telling you anything useful. There are modules and electronics on the newer cars that will keep a test lite on, or as you said, turn it on then it fades out. On your car that is caused by the ECM memory powering up. The only way you can test for a draw is with a digital ammeter. I never trust a battery without proof.
