In addition to the salvage yard in Montgomery, there's also B&M Salvage in Taylor. There's also a place called Maresh & Sons in Caldwell - not really a salvage yard but deals in lots of old stuff. Other things to see & do, places to eat, etc.:
- Bush Museum & Library (a "must" regardless of your political leanings)
- Sanders Corp of Cadets Center (at A&M - some interesting military history if you're inclined that way)
- Restaurants: Outback, Cheddar's, Texas Roadhouse, Bourbon Street B&G, Rockfish, Ozona B&G - all good. And, yes, Dixie Cafe - 20 mi up the road in Hearne - is good.
- BlueBell Creameries - around 40 miles away in Brenham. Interesting plant tour.
- Texas A&M ag/horticulture tours. If you're interested in tractors, you just might be interested in agriculture. If so, I'd suspect there would be something tour-wise in either animal science or the plant sciences areas that would appeal to you.
