Working on old BE and Northwest cranes like we do we see more grease than you can imagine. Like Larry said the best thing we have found is oven cleaner. If you can get the main part of the grease scrapped or dug away and spray the oven cleaner on it and give it a chance to set for a while before rinsing you'll see pretty good results. If you have a "Hotsy" to go along with it that makes things even better. Something else that we've found works decent is called Grease Gone. It's better on the softer stuff, but like everything else, give it a chance to soak in along with a couple repeat soakings and it'll do OK on any of it. If anybody else has knows of anything better, please post. These old cranes we work on are always nasty so we're always looking for something better.
