Yeah, over the years, I've owned four Fords with S-O-S trans, still have one, and the most it has cost me for repairs is about 100.00 . Thats pretty good for 25 years or so. Just like anything else, 99% of the problems are operator induced. Ain't it a great feeling to get one of those unrepairable, expensive to fix SOS transmissions working again without spending anything on it? That moron who responded isn't worth replying too. it works and I polished the valve and now r1 r2 is perfect. thank you to Larry NCKS for advice. This tractor transmission is back and forth all day long and i have had it for 17 years. this is the first time i had to make adjustment to cable and polish valve. if this all that has happened in 17 years of work around here then this transmission is fine and the tractor is good. I like my life so the dude who tells me. I have a 871 that the SOS wasn't serviced for 20 to 25 years per its previous owner. The tractor shows it but the SOS checked out in spec and works perfect. I have 4 SOS tractors and they all work just fine. The best mechanics at Ft. Benning, Ga. couldn't keep those tractors running, when they were new, and with unlimited resourses. Has anyone ever been able to keep one going for over a few minutes at one time? THESE are recent post about SOS FORDS. Why can some get them to work, when others can't ? I never owned one , just always heard they were no good. alvinnms

But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
