I agree with Wayne, if it was a weekday you could have gone to your bank and wire transfered the money. But even if it was a weekend, he drove from 3 states away... get a hotel room and wait till monday morning. Sounds kinda fishy to me. I wouldn't even take a personal check from a stranger for a $1000 tractor, unless I was planning on giving the tractor away anyway. Don't feel bad you did the right thing.
