Gee, I seem to have it easy compared to a few others... Been with my wife for 16 years now. I'm the main breadwinner, though she does contribute with a steady part-time job. She also knows I have a high-stress job and work hard... and she couldn't care less what I spend on tools, tractors or my other interests. I'm reasonable about my spending (really!), don't attempt to hide things from her, and about all she says is "that's nice dear". Packages arrive at the door with parts, a new piece of iron shows up in the barn, she never lets on that she notices, doesn't asks questions, and I don't really think she cares. Nor does she "extract" anything in return. In fact, if I sell something, she insists I keep the money for investing in my other projects!
