Mr Clean, I agree with the others with the addition of....A tractor with high hp like a 1066 change the oil on a regular 100 hr basis. Only if you go with an additional by-pass filter will you streach that (Laid In Stone) 100 hr mark out to what that manufacture says. While I was in the panhandles we had a JD 8640 articulated 4x4 250 hp tractor. Regular change was 100hrs after factory update with a by-pass system the change interval went to 200 hrs. That 250 mark seems really too big.
IMO....Use Delo 400 15x40 in that 1066. I use it in my 966.....No problems.
Question...Mr Clean?.....You said the inside was dirty after you pulled the valve-cover. Sludge? Build up that would have to be scrapped of. Or was it basicly clean with the oil looking dirty.
For you could remome the pan...and wash out the bottom side...but that opens up a hole new can of worms once that is done. Do you check the rods and mains and see if it would be nessary to Run-The -Bottomside while you are there?
There are any number of ways to wash out the engine, steam cleaner, powerwasher w/ hot water, air pressure w/ solvent.
Good Luck,
John A.

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: Black Tire Paint - by Staff. I have been fortunate in that two of my tractors have had rear tires that were in great shape when I bought the tractor. My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on ... [Read Article]
