I have a 1996 ram 2500 with a 360 gas and it has been a good truck. I have not drove a new hemi yet can't afford one so I'm not going to tempt myself. A test drive won't tell you jack unless you can pull a trailer while doing it. The car and truck magazines don't like the old 360 cause they can't burn rubber from stoplight to stoplight. My 360 is doggy at take off, 355 rear gears but will pull real good and hold the hills good. I don't pull a trailer much but can if I want to just fine.If I was trailering all the time with big loads I would probabally opt for the cummins. In a 1500 series that engine should handle more than the truck should as I have no problem going over GVWR in my 2500 HD series.
