Rats

Here is another problem not tractor releated, but If the rats get to my tractors it will be. I have a few chickens, and was surprised to see about 20 rats in the chicken pen one night. I bought some bait from the county, but the rats dont like it. 30 years ago I could shoot them, but the city has moved to me, any gun fire would bring the law real quick. Cats dont like them either.Any help on getting rid of the rats will help.
