Will it make a worn engine start and make HP like it was new, no. If used with stock points the higher current draw will shorten thier life compared to a stock coil. If the plug only need 20,000V to jump the gap, that's all the voltage a high output or stock coil will make. The high output coil may deliever more current depending on it's internal design. If the higher volatge and current capabilities don't jump the spark across the inside of the distributer cap/through the boots and over the plug exterior. It will allow a wider plug gap which is more resistant to fouling and ignites a lean mixture with more success.
