Jonathan, There are many great sounding engines as other have testified. Yes the V-12 Allison, R-2800 Pratt&Whitney or R-3350 Wright Cyclone, A Farmall M on a straight pipe .......But this is suppose to be a comment on screaming Detroits. They are mentioned in the Bible when something came screaming across the heavens. my choice is a toss up between A slobbering 8V-71 blown out to over 400 horses with dual 8 in straight stacks on my cousins ol cab over Freightliner. OBTW on a still day we could hear this truck from 5 miles away. The other is a gulf coast party fishing boat @ Port Isabel, Texas.....100 ft long 20 ft wide. Two, Count em, there were two 12V71s sitting side x side in it. With both girls screaming at the top of there lungs that boat would fly @ 24 knots. But you pay the price in fuel consumption. 18 knots was the ave. crusing speed. Later, John A.
