My 4430 is a '74 PowerShift with 10800 hours on it- still has the lighter rear end, still burns a point of oil in 100 hours, same since I bought it in '80. Only engine work was an out of round rod and bottom end beariings at 8700 hrs. First PS, diff, etc. For years, when going through the IH shop, I've noticed most tractors are in for rear end, tranny, or TA work. If your choice is between tractors with similar hours, tires, condition, etc. for the same money, the JD would be much better.
