Certainly correct information here so far. Yanmar has made engines, tractors, and/or tractor components for Deere for a long time. They are excellent tractors. But to the original quesition about Yanmars being good for house/farm etc, you have to dig further - Most Yanmars you see for sale used in the US are grey market Japanese machines, reconditioned for use here. This is a whole separate ball of wax, since the parts and service of these units cannot be performed by a Deere dealer. Also keep in mind that the grey market Yanmars are usually 20-30 yrs old.
