On my Kubota, I like a real tight fit, but I'm going for a really smooth, flat cut. The tractor gets pushed on the turns a bit, but it is a light tractor.

On my bigger tractor, mowing with little thought to the appearance of the final cut, I like a looser chain, the cut is a little less even, but I'm hauling butt, tearing up grass and weeds. If I bump a tree, I'm not tearing the bark off of it or getting pushed around.

All my land is flat, so I don't have to worry about the mower getting crooked or going sideways on the side of a hill.

Try it a couple of ways and see what you like the best. Hope this helps, Joe
