I had stabilizer bars on my Ford 600 jubile. I also would cut down the fields at a high speed. The stiffness of the deck made a difference in the control of the machine, I didn't have anything in the field to hit and no rutts, but when I borrowed my neighbors MF on year, it had chains and left the field rough. However it really comes down to what ever your comfortable with and working safely.
