The Farmall Cub is an excellent lawn mower for less than $2000 with a belly mower.......another in this range is the MH Pony but parts are a tad harder to find, want more than 10 or 12 hp? The AC CA is hard to beat, especially with 3 point hitch, a really nice one with a mower and wide front might bring as much as $3000. If you insist on a Ford or MF expect to start at $3000 without the mower. On the plus side, the world is full of Ford parts. If you go with the Ford or MF get one new enough to have independent PTO. Prices vary by area and season...........Try to look at as many tractors in the 10 to 30 hp range as you can and when you see it you will know it!!
