Well your trailer is large enough as you give the GVW. (8000# on a 12000# GVWR trailer) Now what about your truck. Look at the drivers door or post and find the manufacture tag. What is the GVWR. This is the maxium weight for your truck. Now add the weight of every thing. Truck Trailer Load. Are you below the GVWR of your truck. It may be a slow go up a 6 precent grade but any truck pulls hard and looses speed and has to be down shifted to pull this kind of grade. I would worry more about going down a 6 persent grade with the load. If you have ever seen a truck in a run away ramp you will know what I mean.
