A little bit of help i hope. The battery is obovious the big one, get what is called a DA plug from chevy/napa/etc shop it is made to fit onto the two male spades of the alternator,and seals the hole from dirt/etc. Use a key switch, and connect the switch in series with the coil[if gas/run terminal so the engine will stop, a lot of people miss the fact the alt will still produce and keep the engine running once started. If it's a diesel you can join the two DA plug wires together and connect a single feed from the key switch to produce output, using fuel shutoff to stop the engine. Also your choice on a diesel; if you want to engerize the alt when the key is on and engine is running,connect the oil pressure switch into the circuit. It will shut the power off to the alt after the engine stops and oil pressure drops, in case the key was left on by "accident" Check the pully sizes also when its a diesel installation, go a bit smaller as they turn slower than a gas engine for same amount of work being done, alt has to turn faster. hope i got it right
