There should be no problems as there are no oil passages near. I thought all of those had passage for the steering. The one i have has the cutout so do the two blocks i have that are for a C. Does your block have the cutout for the starter below the filter the you probably have a plate for a fuel pump and also a dipstick? This is the first i heard of no place for the steering shaft.
