I have a Farmtrac 60 and I am an active duty military officer with no affiliation with Long/Farmtrac. I don't know anything about the 70 or 80 but they look like nice tractors. They, the 70 and 80, are I believe in their first year so just as with cars some problems should be expected. Also, just like with cars I think having a good dealer is important. The reasons I bought my Long Farmtrac 60 is that the model is established (see previous post on older Farmtrac 60), I like the dealer (14 miles from my place), and the dealer's place is clean and well established. I bought my tractor late last year with a Long loader, a 6ft Bushhog and a box blade. I've used the tractor for loader work, plowing, disking and brush hogging on my small 40 acre place in eastern NC. The shifter was stiff when new but now that the transmission has "run in" it is much better. During routine maintenance here are all the very minor problems I've found: - The toplink locking lever was found to be broken on delivery and was immediately replaced by the dealer. - A small power steering fluid leak that was fixed by tightening a connection (15 minute job done by my Dad). - A dust cap come off of the front axle trunion after bushhogging in very heavy brush (20 ft tall pines and pocosin brush). - One grease fitting came off of the loader - One small 1/2 inch rubber bumper off the front hood area. - One of the rear tire valve stems is slightly bent...probably caused while brushhogging. - I replaced the seat belt with a retractable model The tractor is tough and reliable. The fit and finish is excellent. I would buy another one and intend to keep the one I have. I've attached a picture of the tractor when almost brand new. It looks the same today. Thanks, Jim

Old Time Threshing - by Anthony West. A lovely harvest evening late September 1947, I was a school boy, like all school boys I loved harvest time. The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
