If it is a green 4020 you have 2 splines supplied with the tractor and the unused one is stored adjacent to where it is used. The 10 (as I recall)splined adapter is the 1000 and the 6 is 540. The back end of each is different and picks up a different drive in the rear of the tractor. Takes 5 min to change over. Now, for the record. I used to mow with a 6' mower and a 96 hp tractor. Seemed stupid to me to run that big tractor at full PTO rpm's (540) for obvious reasons. As I recall PTO was 2000. I installed my 1000 rpm spline and cut the tractor back to 1000 rpm and everything was much better; quiet, low fuel consumption, low wear and tear. The tractor was LP so it didn't care that it was not revved up all the time. Mark Mark
