1)could be a hole in the float in gas tank and is therefore full of gas 2)wire from sender -the thing in the tank- to the gauge is not making good contact on one or both ends 3)the tank itself in not grounded properly to frame of tractor due to rust, paint, etc where it is bolted onto the frame. Had all the above problems and finally got it fixed then converted to 12v and forgot about the guage and fried it so I'm once again using the STICK!
