I am in college and farm about 70 acres in the summer with a Farmall M and an Oliver 77. The M is stock, but the oliver has m&w pistons. The M has a little better torque down low, but the Oliver has more power. The M is heavier, so it could probably pull more in a dead pull, but they both pull the same plow and disc, and the Oliver can handle it easier. The M in 4th is awful slow for raking and tedding hay. The oliver has much better gear selection. The Oliver has live pto, WAY better for baling and mowing. Road gear on the Oliver is a little slower than the M, but there is no comparison in pulling power on the road, the Oliver can pull much more in high gear. The Oliver has two way hydraulics, and two remotes, the M has one single action remote. In my opinion, the Oliver is way better for use. Parts for the M are cheaper, and easier to get, and the M is probably easier to work on. If i could only keep one, the Oliver would be my pick without a doubt.

There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
