Ah, that is the reason I asked--I have a shuttle transmission in my compact Ford utility tractor. While it is a "shuttle shift" it is entirely a standard trasmission. Not all shuttle shifts are automatics or hydrostats. The shuttle shift on mine is entirely gear driven and simply moves from from forward to reverse with one lever in a straight line pattern. The fully sychronozied four speed transmission is shifted via a lever on the right side of the steering wheel. Comounding the four speeds are three ranges giving a total of 12 speeds forward and reverse.
